Popcorn machine hire

Popcorn for the party. Your way.

Choose the popcorn machine or the full toppings bar. Both options bring fresh popcorn to kids’ parties, events and fundraisers. The machine comes with supplies for at least 25 servings; the bar adds more popcorn, four topping jars and a sign. One standard power point is all it needs indoors.

The $80 machine option

The machine you’ll get.

A commercial 8 oz countertop popcorn machine with a red body, toughened glass cabinet and doors, a non-stick kettle with a built-in stirrer, and a heat lamp that keeps the popcorn warm. It’s about 560 mm wide, 420 mm deep and 760 mm high, so plan a sturdy table and a standard power point.

What’s in the bar

Everything for the popcorn table, in one hire.

You bring a sturdy table and a power point. We pack the rest.

  • The machine

A commercial 8 oz popcorn machine, the kind you see at the movies: a red body, a toughened glass cabinet and doors, a non-stick kettle with a built-in stirrer, and a heat lamp that keeps the popcorn warm.

  • At least 40 servings

Kernels, oil and sugar for at least 40 servings, and 40 popcorn boxes to serve them in. Need more? Add at least 40 more for $20.

  • A toppings bar

Four glass jars with scoops, filled with your choice of four: salt, sugar, cinnamon sugar, sprinkles, M&M’s or mini marshmallows. Leftover toppings are yours to keep.

  • The sign

A “Popcorn Bar, make it your own” sign with labelled jars, plus an allergen card. The sign has a blank price line if you’re selling boxes.

Who it’s for

Birthday parties. Fundraisers. Opening nights.

Kids’ parties

Popcorn they build themselves

Fresh popcorn made in front of them, then a scoop of sprinkles or marshmallows on top. An adult runs the machine; the kids run the toppings.

Fundraisers

A stall that sells itself

Rest-home, hospital, school and club fundraisers. Sell boxes at, say, $3 each and keep the takings: write your price on the sign’s blank line. The smell brings people over.

Events & openings

Indoors, on one plug

Museum and gallery openings, movie nights and work functions. Electric, so no gas bottle: one standard power point and a sturdy table in a hall, a foyer or a lounge.

How many servings?

Bar: at least 40 servings. Machine: at least 25.

The bar has 40 boxes; the machine option has at least 25 boxes and no toppings. For a bigger crowd, add at least 40 more servings for $20, as many times as you need.

The included 40+ servings should cover it, one box each.

An estimate, not a promise: box sizes and second helpings vary.

How it works

Three steps from the boot to the first box.

01 · Collect

Pick it up in Porirua

Collection is free, or we can deliver for a quoted extra cost. The machine is 56 cm wide, 42 cm deep and 76 cm tall, so check it fits in your car, and bring a second pair of hands.

02 · Warm up

Plug in and switch on

Set it on a sturdy table near a power point, switch on the kettle and the heat lamp, and give it 5–6 minutes to heat up. If you chose the bar, fill the jars and stand up the sign while you wait.

03 · Pop

Add a batch and serve

Pour the measured oil, kernels and sugar into the kettle; the stirrer does the rest. About 2 minutes later it’s popped: tip it into the cabinet, scoop it into boxes, and let everyone top their own.

Good things to know

Questions before the first pop.

What’s included?

The $80 machine option includes a machine, kernels, oil, sugar and boxes for at least 25 servings. The $125 bar includes at least 40 servings with 40 boxes, four topping jars with scoops, a sign and an allergen card. Add at least 40 more servings for $20 each time you need more.

Which toppings can I choose?

Any four of salt, sugar, cinnamon sugar, sprinkles, M&M’s and mini marshmallows. With the bar, pick them in the form below, or tell us in your message. Whatever’s left in the jars is yours to keep.

Is it nut-free? What about allergies?

No, we can’t promise that. M&M’s carry a “may contain peanuts” warning, and the mini marshmallows contain gelatine. An allergen card comes with the bar so guests can check before they help themselves. If allergies are a worry, choose your four toppings with that in mind and tell us in your message.

Can I use it for a fundraiser?

Yes, that’s what the sign’s blank price line is for. Sell boxes at, say, $3 each and keep the takings. Extra servings are $20 for at least 40 more, so you can work out the stall’s numbers before the day.

How many people will it serve?

The machine includes at least 25 servings; the bar includes at least 40, one box each. For a bigger crowd, add extra servings in the form, or tell us your numbers in the enquiry and we’ll pack enough.

What power does it need?

One standard 10 A power point. It draws 1.35 kW, so plug it straight into the wall rather than sharing a multi-box with an urn or a heater.

Can I use it indoors?

Yes. It’s electric, with no gas bottle, so it works in a hall, a foyer or at home. Keep it on a sturdy, level table, under cover and out of the rain.

How long does it take?

Allow 5–6 minutes for it to heat up, then each batch takes about 2 minutes. Once it’s going you can keep the batches coming.

Is it safe around children?

The kettle gets very hot, so an adult runs the machine and children stay clear of the hot machine.

Does it come with a cart?

No, it’s a countertop machine, so it needs a sturdy table. If you don’t have one, add a 1.5 m trestle table to your hire; they’re $10 each.

Do I have to clean it?

Once it has cooled, tip out any leftover popcorn and wipe out the cabinet. Return every part and we do the proper clean between hires.

Can you deliver?

Yes, subject to availability. Collection from Porirua is free, or request delivery and we’ll confirm the extra cost for your address.

How does the deposit work?

A deposit of 20% of the hire, minimum $20, holds your date and comes off the total. For the machine on its own that’s $20; for the bar, $25. You don’t pay anything when you enquire.

Check availability

Tell us about your event.

Share the date and suburb, choose the machine or bar, add extra servings if you need them, and pick four toppings if you choose the bar. We’ll check availability and confirm the price.
